HEWT Foundation was founded in 2012, with the previous name "HEWT - Human Empowerment and Welfare Trust" registered under the Trust Act 1882 and afterward re-registered in SECP as "HEWT Foundation" under Section 42 of the Companies Act 2017, operating from Karachi, Pakistan.

According to the World Bank, 10 percent of the world's population, or 780 million people, lives on less than $1.90 USD per day.

We believe that we can break down this vicious cycle of intergenerational poverty by building a system of financial inclusion for all. We believe that providing small, interest-free loans to those in poverty has the power to transform families and entire communities in a radical way. By providing these loans without collateral, and interest-free, we empower these women and families to get their business ideas up and running, and even expand.

The income generated from these small businesses allow these families to finance their children's school fees, improve their homes, and revamp their lives."
