HEWT was founded in Karachi in 2012 with the goal of helping underserved individuals access opportunities to build sustainable livelihoods.
The organization began by supporting women who had skills and determination but lacked the financial resources needed to establish small income-generating activities.
Early beneficiaries included individuals involved in tailoring, poultry, home-based food businesses, kiosks, repair services, beauty services, and small agricultural activities.
The model was built around a simple principle: provide interest-free financing, support productive economic activity, and allow repaid capital to support future beneficiaries.
As the organization developed, HEWT expanded its work through local representatives and chapters across Pakistan.
Today, HEWT continues to work toward its mission of reducing poverty and empowering underserved communities through sustainable financial support.
HEWT's long-term goal is to expand its ability to reach communities where limited access to capital remains a barrier to economic opportunity.
HEWT begins its work in Karachi with a focus on interest-free microloans and economic opportunity.
The organization focuses on helping women establish home-based and small-scale income-generating activities.
HEWT expands its approach to include small business development and community-based initiatives.
HEWT continues working with underserved individuals and families and seeks to expand its reach through responsible, sustainable programs.
